ClarisImpact: Creating and Saving Model Styles

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
To create a model that can be saved as a Model Style, you must:

1. (Optional) If necessary, go to Element Styles and create elements that will be used in the model
2. (Optional) If necessary, go to the appropriate options to create or modify objects/formats that will be used in the model: Connector Settings, Level Settings, Frame Spacing, Spacing, and Sizing.
3. Create your model using any of the following options to modify the model: ElementStyles, Connector Settings, Level Settings, Frame Spacing, Spacing, or Sizing.

Note: If you do not use Element Styles, Connector Settings, Level Settings, Frame Spacing, Spacing, and Sizing to create and modify objects, some object formats may be stripped out of the model when it is added as a Model Style. For example, if you change the color of task boxes in an Org Chart from white to blue, by using the color palette, when you save the Org Chart as a Model Style, the task boxes will be white. The blue task boxes will be stripped out because you did not use the Element Styles dialog to create or apply the blue work boxes.

To add a Model Style:

After having created a model you would like to use again:

1. Select the model
2. Select Model Styles from the Model Menu
3. Click the Add button. This will create a Model Style named Style X, where X is a number.

You may get a dialog warning you that some formats may be stripped.

NOTE: If the model does not look correct in the sample, you will have to go back to either the Element Settings to create or apply an element, or you may have to go to one of the other settings, spacing, or sizing options to apply a format option correctly.
