ClarisWorks: Modem Types Reduced in Apple Modem Tool 1.5 (CM)

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
With the release of Apple Modem Tool 1.5, Apple decided to discontinue built-in initialization strings for modems made by other manufacturers, due to support issues. You can add a custom initialization string by following these directions:

1. Select Connection from the Settings menu.

2. Select your modem type from the modem popup menu if it is listed. Otherwise, look for your modem in the list or recommended initialization strings below and specify the corresponding string by choosing Custom from the popup menu and entering it. (If you do not see a Custom item, hold down the option key before clicking on the menu. You have an earlier version of the Apple Modem Tool and should obtain the ClarisWorks 1.0v4 updater or purchase the ClarisWorks 2.1 upgrade.)

3. If you didn't find your modem in the list below, you can either call your modem manufacturer to ask them what string to use, or select the Hayes-compatible option in the Apple Modem Tool dialog.

TIP: If you want all new communications documents to default to using the new initialization string you set, select Save As, title your document "ClarisWorks CM Options", select ClarisWorks Stationery from the popup menu, and save it into the Claris folder in your System folder.
