Changing the font attributes of specific data while in Browse mode will affect the formatting in all of the layouts of your database. If at some point, you need to remove this formatting, there are a couple of steps you can follow. Simply stated, you can clear all formatting of text if you move the data into a spreadsheet and then back into the database.
ClarisWorks for Macintosh
Start by going to a layout that contains all of the fields in your database. If you are not sure if you have one, create a new Standard layout. (Note: As long as you have fewer than 41 fields defined, this new layout should contain all of your fields. If you have more than 41 fields defined, you will have to insert the fields into the layout individually)
From this layout, click outside a field to select an entire record, then hold the Command key down while you type the following:
A X N 4 Return V C W N V
These are the keyboard command equivalents of:
1) Command - A Select All
2) Command - X Cut
3) Command - N New...
4) Command - 4 "Spreadsheet"
5) Return "OK"
6) Command - V Paste
7) Command - C Copy
8) Command - W Close
9) Command - N "No"
10) Command - V Paste
Note: This solution is designed to replace all of the records (that are not hidden) with new records that contain the same data, yet without formatting. If you only need to remove the formatting from one field of one record, or a selected group of records, skip the Command-A (select all), and start with Command-X (cut).
ClarisWorks for Windows
Start by going to a layout that contains all of the fields in your database. If you are not sure if you have one, create a new Standard layout. (Note: As long as you have fewer than 41 fields defined, this new layout should contain all of your fields. If you have more than 41 fields defined, you will have to insert the fields into the layout individually)
From this layout, click outside a field to select an entire record, then hold the Control key down while you type the following:
A X N
Select Spreadsheet type from the New document dialog box, and then once again, hold down the Control key and typeÉ
Return V C W
Hold down the Alt key and type N, then type Control - V
These are the keyboard command equivalents of:
1) Control - A Select All
2) Control - X Cut
3) Control - N New...
5) Return "OK"
6) Control - V Paste
7) Control - C Copy
8) Control - W Close
9) Alt - N "No"
10) Control - V Paste
Note: As with ClarisWorks for Macintosh, this solution is designed to replace all of the records (that are not hidden) with new records that contain the same data, yet without formatting. If you only need to remove the formatting from one field of one record, or a selected group of records, skip the Control-A (select all), and start with Control-X (cut).
An alternative solution is to save the file as ASCII and then insert it back into the document.
