Technique for Conserving Labels (DB)

If you have blank labels, and you have only used some of the labels on a page in a previous printing, you may want to reuse those pages by turning them bottom edge up.

If, however, your labels have been pre-printed with a return address or something that makes them "one way only" in your printer, or you've done the above on the page already, here's a technique to print onto the labels that are remaining on the sheet:

1. Use label sheets that have some missing from the top this way.

2. Add new blank records to the database - one for each missing label on the sheet.

3. Sort by any field that always has data in your records. This puts the new blank records at the top.

Delete the blank records after printing.

NOTE: many label and printer manufacturers strongly caution against inserting partially used sheets of labels into a printer because the mechanical parts used to advance the paper in the printer may cause a label to peel off and jam inside your printer. Consult your printer manual or the label box to make sure it is safe to reinsert partially used label sheets in your printer.
