ClarisWorks 2.1 comes with a new Apple Modem tool which offers modem error correction controls. If you select your modem from the popup menu and these controls are disabled, your modem does not support error correction. If your modem is not listed in the popup menu, you can create your own modem settings by selecting Custom.
To get access to the Error Correction settings in the Apple Modem tool 1.5 connections dialog:
1. Choose Hayes compatible from the popup menu (Settings menu, Connection Settings)
2. Then select Custom from the same popup menu.
3. Click the checkbox for "Modem supports software error correction." If you modem supports hardware error correction, also click the hardware checkbox.
You will then have access to the Error Correction popup menu. Selecting Optional or Required from that menu will enable the Correction Type popup menu which offers options for Software MNP or hardware.
