ClarisImpact: Need to Select SYLK File Type in Order to Import SYLK Files

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
SYLK files will not import correctly into a ClarisImpact Table if the file type "All Available" is used. ClarisImpact will use a Text or ASCII translator unless the Show menu from the Place File... dialog box is changed to "SYLK".

Normally, Claris products can take a quick look at the header of the file and pick the correct translator instead of requiring the exact translator to be chosen.
