Numbering Pages When Printing a ClarisWorks Database (DB)

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Printing page numbers when printing from a ClarisWorks database is done in a different manner than it would be in FileMaker Pro. (See below **)

Getting page numbers to automatically print on a ClarisWorks database can be accomplished as follows:

1. Choose Layout menu and make sure that Browse is checked.
2. Choose Format menu and select Insert Footer, assuming you want the page numbers at the bottom of each page. If you prefer that the page numbers appear at the top of the page, choose Insert Header instead of Insert Footer.
3. From the Edit menu choose Insert Page #.

You can format the page number any way you wish (center, etc.), including adding the word ÒPageÓ before it.

Notes:
1) The page number will print, but will not show up on screen unless you turn on Page View in the View menu.

2) The Format Menu, Insert Header or Footer command is not layout specific. In other words, using this method will resulting in page numbers printing for the entire file, on every layout.

**FileMaker Pro allows you to place a page number symbol within the Layout Footer (or Header) part. This allows you to have page numbers print only when printing from specific layouts.
