How to Edit a Chart Model as a Picture

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Sometimes you may want to edit charts created in ClarisImpact so that they show conceptual rather than numerical relationships between numbers. Editing Chart models as pictures in ClarisImpact requires a few extra steps, because of the link between charts and their table data. To edit a chart model as a picture, use the following steps:

1. Select the chart model.
2. Choose Separate Table from the Chart menu. (You will get a dialog box that says, "Separating the table from the Chart will make the chart values only modifiable from the table. Continue?" Click OK.)
3. Reselect the chart only.
4. Cut (or Copy) the chart.
5. Paste back into current ClarisImpact document (or other, new document).
6. Reselect chart graphic (which is now a grouped picture).
7. Go to the Arrange menu and choose Ungroup Picture. You will now be able to edit any part of the chart as a graphic object.

Note: Once you have performed this procedure, you cannot reverse it so that the chart graphic is manipulated as a chart model.
