Reinstalling ClarisImpact Deletes Custom Model Styles

If you ever need to re-install your ClarisImpact element or model styles, be sure to save your custom styles first.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

The Installer deletes any custom Element or Model Styles automatically whenever you reinstall ClarisImpact. Art added to an existing Library or new Libraries is preserved.

Here are some suggestions to work around this:

* If you do not need to reinstall Model or Element Styles, select Custom Install. Because the Custom Install places all of the files into a folder called ClarisImpact Folder in your main Hard Drive window, the custom styles will not be deleted. Click Customize in the main installation window and specify what you wish to install.

* If you need to reinstall Model Styles, just remove the Models that have custom versions from the ClarisImpact Styles folder before you install and replace them after the installation is complete.

* If one of the Model Styles has a custom Style in it (that is, if your custom Style is not the one you wish to replace), store the Model in a Library to preserve it. To do this, you will need to create a Model with your custom Style, then add it to a Library.

Advanced Workaround Technique.

If you just want to reinstall one Model Style, copy the compressed Model Styles from Disk 1 onto your hard drive and use Stuffit to decompress the file.
