Text To Speech Only Uses Female Voice (All)

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
This is fixed in ClarisWorks 3.0.

There is an undocumented feature in ClarisWorks 2.1 that allows an AV Macintosh to read the text typed on the screen. This capability is accessed through a Shortcut that can be installed by adding the Text-to-Speech icon (which looks like a pair of lips) to your Shortcut palette.

ClarisWorks will use the female voice regardless of what voice you have chosen through the Speech Setup Control Panel. There is no way to modify which voice ClarisWorks uses.

It has also been reported that this feature will also work on a Quadra 950 running Speech Manager 1.1 or later.
