Windows 3.1: Must Use WinFax Pro v2.0 Or Later

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
In order to use WinFax Pro with Windows 3.1 you need version 2.0 (dated 11/28/91), or later.

If you are running Windows 3.1 and FaxPro 2.0 on a 286 it may take a long time to send or receive a fax. Along with this you may encounter missing characters.

FIX: Remove all terminate and stay resident (TSR) files from your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files. If you are running MS-DOS 5.0 you will need to add the line DOS=LOW to your CONFIG.SYS. Next you will need to open the SYSTEM.INI with a text editor and add the following line to the [Standard] section: FasterModeSwitch=1

If when you are running WinFaxPro the system hangs while you are running in 386 Enhanced mode, you will need to add the following lines to the [386Enh] section of your SYSTEM.INI file:

COMBoost Time=15
COMxProtocol=XOFF
COMxBuffr=1024
COMxAutoAssign=0

NOTE: The x after COM in the last three lines represents a valid COM port. Be sure to substitute the correct COM port number when you add the lines to the SYSTEM.INI.

There is another potential problem with version 1.0 of Berkeley Systems' After Dark screen saver. When running After Dark while using WinFaxPro, After Dark may interfere with fax transmission.

FIX: Turn off After Dark when using WinFaxPro.

Delrina also recommends that you do not run either of the two programs form the LOAD = line in the WIN.INI file.

If you are experiencing problems running at 14.4Kbps, contact Delrina about an update to fix this particular problem.

NOTE: A number of computers currently ship with OEM versions of WinFax. If this is the case with your computer, please contact the hardware manufacture concerning problems with its version of WinFaxPro. Version 4.0 can be obtained by contacting:
