Finding Records with Blank Fields Without Using Match Records (DB)

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
In a ClarisWorks database, it is possible to search for records that have an empty or blank field by using Match Records and the ISBLANK function. The only problem with this method is that you have to compose a formula and then hide the unselected records. This can be time consuming if you are in a rush.

Try this method for faster searching for records with blank fields:

1. Choose Find from the Layout menu or type Command-Shift-F.
2. Enter the following into the field you want to search for blanks:

<>""
3. Check the Omit button.
(In ClarisWorks 2.1 or above, you can type an equal sign:
= and NOT click the Omit button)

4. Initiate the find by typing a Return or clicking the Find button.
