Here are some tips for printing envelopes to an Apple StyleWriter II printer:
1. Set the paper size in Page Setup... to #10 Envelope
2. Make certain the orientation icon is set to portrait (upright)
3. Choose Document from the Format menu to set the margin settings to:
Top Bottom Left Right
.29 .29 .75 .75
The two types of StyleWriters actually feed envelopes differently so it does make a difference which printer you have.
1. The StyleWriter has a slot in the back where envelopes are fed in, top first, one at a time.
2. The StyleWriter II has an adjustable feeder tray which protrudes from the top where envelopes are fed. There is a lever on the right hand side which you must switch to envelope.
Putting the envelopes in the right place is only half as important as placing them in at the right TIME. The StyleWriter will try to eject the first envelope it senses sitting the in feeder. The trick is to issue the Print command; wait for it to complain that the printer is out of paper; THEN place the envelope in the feeder (up side down) and click the Continue button or press return. This way the envelope will not be ejected until it has been addressed.
