- Color editing/manipulations. MacDraw Pro could edit colors from any color palette based on RGB (Red/Green/Blue), HSL (Hue/Saturation/Lightness), CMYK (Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Black), color range, cooler colors, warmer colors, lighter colors, darker colors, blending, and more. For an excellent overview of what these terms mean and color use in general, please see the MacDraw Pro Color Guide.
ClarisDraw can only edit colors within the 256 color palette. It uses the Apple Color Wheel, which only allows numeric color editing using RGB and HSL.
- 24-bit color. ClarisDraw supports this only in Paint mode. MacDraw Pro also included Pantoneª palettes ? ClarisDraw does not.

- More than 64 gradients, 62 patterns, or 256 colors in a palette. MacDraw Pro could also have FEWER colors in a palette. With ClarisDraw, it's a fixed number only: 81, 168 or 256 colors
[Note: 24-bit color, or a total of 16 million colors, are available in any document when importing a bitmapped file. The 256-color limit in a palette doesn't mean that only 256 colors are available for an image - it simply means that 256 colors are the limit within the color palette. We chose the 256 most commonly used colors for the palette; you can add/delete colors so the palette better suits your needs.]
