Special Characters that do not directly Map to Windows

Characters I type in ClarisWorks on the Macintosh do not always display correctly under ClarisWorks for Windows. What is happening?

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

The following High ASCII characters displayed in the table below show characters on the Macintosh that have no match in Windows (Figure 1). These characters do not map directly to any Windows font.

If these characters are included in a cross-platform file, they will not map correctly across to Windows. There are several work arounds for this.

* Have two layouts, one for the Windows machine, one for the Macintosh machine. On the Windows layout, create a field with the ASCII code for the character, format the field with the Symbol font, and lay it on top of the original field. (The ASCII codes for the Symbol font provided in Windows are also listed Figure 1.)
