Fixes implemented in the 3.0v2 update

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

The 3.0v2 update to ClarisWorks for Windows 3.0 remedies many problems that you may have been experiencing. This revision addresses the following:

Performance
- Faster launching (up to 30% faster) for CPUs with 4 MB of RAM
- Faster typing and tabbing speed in the database

Display
- Cursor is now visible on CPUs with the Cirrus Logic video cards
- Documents imported from ClarisWorks 1.0 now display fonts accurately
- Line spacing in documents no longer change when you reopen a document

Import/Export Filters
- Fixes Word for Windows 2.0, WordPerfect 6.x, DBF and WKS filters
For WordPerfect 6.2 files, corrects certain types of international character and margin errors.
--For Word for Windows 2.0, can now import documents with hanging indents.
For .DBF files, imports without omitting any data.
For .WKS files, dates are imported correctly.

Spelling and Hyphenation
- Hyphenates more accurately
- Spelling dictionary no longer flags repeated words

Miscellaneous
- Now works properly with Hewlett Packard DeskJet 5.0 driver, when it is set as the default printer
- Monotype fonts are now installed properly
- A Program Icon for the Introduction to ClarisWorks is now added. On 4 MB CPUs, we recommend that you run the tour from the Program Manager and not from within ClarisWorks. To run the tour, double-click the icon.

In general, if you have a computer with 4MB of RAM, you may still face occasional out of memory messages because most of the memory is required to run your operating system and little is left for ClarisWorks. To optimize your system, please follow these steps:

1.Turn on Virtual Memory and make sure it is set to Permanent.
2.Ensure that Virtual Memory is set at 11,700 or higher.
3.Turn on 32-bit Disk Access (this step is NOT recommended for laptops running on battery power).
4.Defragment your hard disk using a third party utility or the utility provided with DOS 6.x.

Consult the READ ME file (General Troubleshooting section) for full details on optimizing your memory.
