ClarisWorks: How To Create Legal / Pleading Paper

A step-by-step technique that allows you to create pleading paper

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

To create a document that has the numbers 1-28 on the left, followed by a vertical line, etc -- pleading paper, follow the instructions below:

1) Decrease the Left Margin setting by half an inch by selecting Document from the Format menu .
2) Set the Sailboat (left indent marker) half an inch to the right.
3) In the gutter now created, Option drag (Windows - ALT + drag) out a text frame and type in numbers from 1 to 28.
(use more or less numbers and extend frame for additional pages as needed)
4) Choose Select All from the Edit Menu
5) Select Paragraph... from the Format menu and set the Line Spacing to Points.
6) Fine tune the spacing between numbers to match typical text by clicking on the Increase or Decrease Spacing Controls in the lower center of the Ruler.
7) Select Show Tools (if they're not showing) from the View menu, and draw a vertical line to the right of your numbers.
8) Finally for repeated use, Save the file as a Stationery document.
