Some common symptoms of this incompatibility are:
- Installation hanging on ClarisWorks diskette #2. This usually occurs right after choosing what type of installation to perform (Full, Minimum, or Custom.) The install program will then appear to continue by redrawing portions of the screen with colored rectangles (white and blue) but eventually hang.
- Double clicking on the ClarisWorks application icon from Program Manager or trying to launch ClarisWorks from the File Manager. In the case of the Program Manager, double clicking on the icon doesn't do anything. Launching from the File Manager will bring up the ClarisWorks splash screen but the system will hang there.
SOLUTIONS:
- Try excluding the range of memory for the video card. Most high end accelerator cards normally take up the memory range from A000-C7FF (these are zeros and not the letter 'O'). Typically an memory manager exclude statement looks something like this.
device=c:\\dos\\emm386.exe noems x=A000-C7FF
- Try switching to the Windows VGA driver. If this works, contact the manufacturer of your video card and see if an updated driver is available for your card.
This issue has been encountered when using the following drivers...
- S3 2.21 800x600 256 color SF (small font)
- Stealth 24 (version unknown)
