Text Clippings Do Not Work in ClarisWorks 4.0 For Macintosh

ClarisWorks 3.0 and 4.0 both have a limited ability to use the System 7.5 drag and drop technology.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

System 7.5 has a feature called drag and drop. If an application program supports the feature you can drag items instead of the more conventional copy and paste. For example, you can click on a picture in the 7.5 Scrapbook and drop it onto the Desktop (to create a picture clipping) or into a drag and drop aware application.

You can only drag items INTO ClarisWorks 3.0.

Text (clippings, or selected text from a drag and drop application) can be dropped in.
Pictures can be dropped in.
QuickTime movies can be dropped in.
Sounds cannot be dropped in.

ClarisWorks 3.0 and 4.0 both have a limited ability to use the system 7.5 drag and drop technology. In ClarisWorks 3.0 you can drop both a text clipping as well as a text document either into a WP document or into a text frame. However, in 4.0, there is no longer the ability to drop a text clipping into any environment. If you try to drop a text clipping, the text clipping simply returns to the desktop without inserting.

Text documents, QuickTime movies, and PICT's function the same way in both versions.
