ClarisImpact and Memory on the Power Macintosh

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
The following is from the ClarisImpact 1.0v4 Important Information file:

Power Macintosh applications are larger and require more memory than conventional Macintosh applications. The ClarisImpact application memory setting is set to 3714k when running with the default Power Macintosh system memory settings(Modern Memory Manager ON and Virtual Memory OFF). The ClarisImpact memory requirement is reduced to 1250k when Virtual Memory is turned ON.

If you have an 8MB Power Macintosh and usually run more than one application, you may want to turn Virtual Memory ON so that there is enough memory for these applications. However, performance is optimized when running with the default system settings.

If you plan on using all of the Model and Element styles, we suggest that you increase the application's default memory partition by 1000k. Refer to "Adjusting memory" on page 1-13 of "ClarisImpact Getting Started".

Occasionally in low memory situations an alert will appear stating "There is not enough memory to complete this operation". We suggest saving your document before continuing. If you are working with large documents and find yourself in this situation frequently, we suggest increasing the application's memory partition as indicated above.
