Telephone numbers
Claris Organizer users can specify their own phone number formatting. The "Edit ListÉ" at the bottom of the telephone pop up menu in the Contact Preference allows the user to type in something like "(#) ### - ####" if they want a phone number formatted as (3) 456-9874.
Phone numbers that begin with a plus sign (+) are not formatted, they are treated as international phone numbers. It is assumed that international numbers will have a different format than local ones, and Claris Organizer users are expected to enter all formatting characters.
International telephone dialing
The International Prefix in Contact Preferences is dialed when a number begins with the plus sign (+). This prefix should be the international access code for the current country. The rest of the number is assumed to include the country code, city code and subscriber number.
Note: The city code should be entered in the form that is appropriate for international dialing. Usually, the leading zero should be omitted.
While Claris Organizer continues to have a successful reception in the United States, plans are underway to add localizations. The Claris Organizer Development Team is actively pursuing new ways to accommodate the international customer.
