It may not be something you would normally want to do, but yes, it is possible to change the line thickness of filled tabs in ClarisWorks 2.x/3.0/4.0, although the procedure changes slightly with ClarisWorks 4.0
Changing the line weight of filled tabs in ClarisWorks 2.x/3.0:
1. Add the Thicker Line tool and the Thinner Line tool to your Shortcut Palette. The Thicker Line tool is a thin line with a red arrow pointing towards a thicker line; the Thinner Line is its opposite.
2. Use a standard (non-filled) tab, and tab as desired.
3. Bring up the Tool Bar. Select the Line Tool, and draw a line equal to the length of the desired Filled Tab. Use the Thinner or Thicker line tool as desired. The Thinner Line tool will allow you to create a line even thinner than Hairline, although this will not be apparent on screen unless you increase magnification.
4. Once the line is the desired thickness, copy it. Select the tabbed space and replace it with the copied line. The line will be pasted in as an in line graphic. Select the arrow cursor and trim or lengthen the line as appropriate.
5. With the line selected, go to the Style menu and select Subscript. This will drop the line slightly below the line of text. Go to the Size menu and select a smaller font size for this selected line. Trial and error will find the correct match. (Example: for 8 point text, select a 4 point size for the line).
Changing the line weight of filled tabs in ClarisWorks 4.x:
1. Create a Fill Tab as you normally would [Format:Tab].
2. To create a thicker line, follow the procedures described above.
3. To create a thinner line, select the Filled Tab, then select Inferior from the Style menu. The resulting Filled Tab may actually be thinner than it appears on screen, so view at a greater magnification to reveal its actual size.
