Getting Garbled Text In ClarisWorks When Opening A Document

Translators don't automatically always choose the correct file type when settings are set to All Available files.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

If you try to open up a file that was not created in ClarisWorks. The file is translated by the translators and converted into ClarisWorks but the result may be garbled.

The problem is that ClarisWorks may not recognize the proper file type when the settings are left on All Available files. This may be due to the file coming from a PC. Selecting a Document Type and the desired translator from the File Type should correct the problem.
