Global Village Modems, Tools, and Basic Initialization Strings

Most Global Village modems do not need a specific tool other than the Apple Modem Tool. That includes the 1XX series of the PowerPort modem. The Duo and 500 series will normally use a 500/Duo tool, which is installed when GlobalFax 2.5 is first installed.

Global Village's modems generally require the same basic initialization string, (AT&F1). Here is a list of most of the current and discontinued Global Village modems and their exceptions:

Teleport Silver, Gold, Mercury, & Platinum - AT&F1 (Hardware Handshake = CTS only)
Teleport Gold II (includes Performa) - AT&F1

Powerport Gold (ATI1 checksum 246) - AT&F1 (Hardware Handshake = CTS only)
