Adobe Type Reunion and the ClarisWorks Font Menu

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Type Reunion, from Adobe Systems, is a Macintosh System extension that groups all of the fonts of a font families together. It lists the font name once in the Font menu with the various styles of that font (bold, italic, etc.) listed in a sub-menu.

In altering the display of the Font menu, Adobe Type Reunion also disables the option to display the fonts in the menu in their own typeface (showing "Times" in the Times typeface and "Geneva" in the Geneva typeface, for instance). Normally, this feature is an option which can be turned on or off in the ClarisWorks Preferences dialog box. However, if you have Adobe Type Reunion installed, all of the font names in the Font menu will display in the default system font, regardless of the Preference setting. The only way to regain this functionality is to turn off the Type Reunion extension by disabling System Extensions.
