After Installing with OS 8, Computer Loops on Restart

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
If you install ClarisWorks 3.0 on a computer running OS 8, you may run into a problem. After the installation when you click the Restart or Quit button, your computer will start up or try to go back to the Finder, then it will go into an endless loop.

Restart the computer and the computer should start up normally and work correctly. The installed copy of ClarisWorks 3.0 should function correctly (although it has not been tested for compatibility by Claris).

The problem may be an incompatibility between OS 8 and the Installer Cleanup extension that's installed by the ClarisWorks 3.0 installer into the Extensions folder. You can restart the computer with extensions off and delete the Installer Cleanup Extension manually.
