QuickTime Streaming is very processor intensive. Therefore, the computer being used as the server should be dedicated as much as possible to streaming. It should also be the highest performance processor available for use.
The minimum configuration is:
- Power Macintosh G3 or Macintosh Server G3
- At least 256MB of memory
- At least 1GB of free disk space
- Software update to Mac OS X
- QuickTime Streaming Server 1.0
The recommended configuration is:
- 400 MHz Macintosh Server G3
- 1GB of memory
- 9GB of free disk space (three ultra-wide SCSI disk drives)
- 4-port Ethernet card
- Software update to Mac OS X
- QuickTime Streaming Server 1.0

Client workstations should be a PowerPC-based computer with at least 32 MB of memory, running Mac OS 8.0 or higher, and have QuickTime 4.0 or later installed. A static IP or DHCP address is also required because MacIP is not supported.
