Macintosh IIfx: SCSI Port and Hard Drive Performance

How fast must a hard disk be to take full advantage of the speed (3 megabytes
per second) of the Macintosh IIfx SCSI port?

A hard disk drive with a sustained data transfer rate (not to be confused
with "throughput") of 3 megabytes per second or faster will take full
advantage of the improved performance of the Macintosh IIfx SCSI port.

This transfer rate is independent of the operating system. For example,
there is no difference in the transfer rate when using A/UX.
