Mac OS X Server 1.x: Maximum Virtual Memory

This article details the maximum Virtual Memory Mac OS X Server uses and whether it can be configured.
Note: This article pertains to Mac OS X Server versions 1.x, which were released prior to May 2001.

The system is free to try and allocate it's full 4 GB of address space. There is no limit imposed by the system other than running out of space on the file system where the swap file exists.
