The clients may appear fine until they attempt to access the system or any items from the mounted volume. Making the server available again does not allow clients to smoothly transition from one session to another. They must be restarted if the AFP server is restarted or brought down at any point.
To avoid client computer unresponsiveness, remember to shut down all NetBooted clients before shutting down or restarting the server, or when quitting the the AppleFileServer through Macintosh Manager or Remote Administration.
