Apache 1.3.4 is incorporated into Mac OS X Server. Apache is a GNU licensed implementation of an HTTP 1.1 server. It can take advantage of many new features of Mac OS X Server including multilink multihoming, file level permissions, and scripting languages available at install (perl, TCL, sh, etc).
Apache makes use of CGI (common gateway interface) scripts to perform automated tasks on the server side. These scripts can be written in any of the supported scripting languages, and can utilize any system services, such as sendmail and ftp, that are accessible to the administrator.
