Note: This article pertains to Mac OS X Server versions 1.x, which were released prior to May 2001.
Under Mac OS X Server it is possible to export any Mac OS Extended format (HFS Plus) volume as an NFS mount point. However, please be aware that the NFS is based on the Unix-style UFS file system which is case-sensitive and no resource fork information is available under an HFS Plus volume mounted through NFS. This is to the filesystem data structure difference between NFS and HFS Plus.
Because of this, Apple does not recommend or support exporting Mac OS Extended volume as an NFS mount point in the current version of Mac OS X Server. (This is not an issue in Mac OS X Server 10.0.3 and later).
