Opening AppleShare IP First Aid
Before you can open AppleShare IP First Aid, you must restart the server computer with extensions turned off. Be sure that no one is connected to the server, or notify any connected users that they will be disconnected.
To open AppleShare IP First Aid:
1. Press the Shift key and choose Restart from the Special menu. The computer starts up with extensions turned off.
2. Open the AppleShare IP 6.3 folder on your server's hard disk.
3. Open the AppleShare IP First Aid folder.
4. Double-click the AppleShare IP First Aid icon.
Backing up AppleShare IP PDS and data files
PDS files are invisible files that store information about privileges, shared items, and other AppleShare IP information.
To back up AppleShare IP PDS and data files:
1. With AppleShare IP First Aid open, click Backup.
2. Choose the volume you want to back up.
3. Type a name for the backup file and click the Backup button.
The backup file is saved in the AppleShare IP 6.3 folder.
Verifying or reconstructing PDS files
To verify or reconstruct AppleShare IP PDS and data files:
1. With AppleShare IP First Aid open, click Verify PDS or Reconstruct PDS.
2. Select the volume that contains your AppleShare IP server software.
3. Click Choose.
The results appear in the AppleShare IP First Aid window.
Verifying or reconstructing Users & Groups data
To verify or reconstruct Users & Groups data:
1. With AppleShare IP First Aid open, click Verify UG or Reconstruct UG.
2. Select the Users & Groups Data File you want to verify or reconstruct.
3. Click Verify or Reconstruct.
The results appear in the AppleShare IP First Aid window.
