Symptom
Client computers display an alert box with the following alert message when users try to print:
"No printer has been selected in the Chooser."
You may also see Desktop Printer icons that are crossed out when opening System Access.
Solution
These symptoms likely indicate that the Printing Preferences file is unusable. Follow these steps to rebuild it:
1. Log into System Access.
2. Drag the Printing Preferences folder to the Trash.
3. Drag all Desktop Printers to the Trash.
Note: Desktop Printers may also be in the Users folder (on the root of the startup volume) or the Secured Items folder (in the System Folder).
4. Disable the Multi-User Startup extension.
5. Restart the client computer.
6. Open the Chooser.
7. Select a printer.
8. Enable the Multi-User Startup extension.
9. Restart the client computer.
