QuickTime 5 Public Preview: Final Cut Pro Compatibility Information

This article provides information on the compatibility of Final Cut Pro and QuickTime 5 Public Preview.
On 2000-10-10 Apple released the public preview of QuickTime 5. The purpose of this preview release is to allow developers and users to test and provide feedback on the next generation of digital media technology.

While every effort has been taken to assure the reliability of the QuickTime 5 Preview, it is important to understand that it is trial, prerelease, time-limited software meant for evaluation and development purposes only. The Preview release should not be used in a commercial operating environment or with important data. Before installing QuickTime 5 Preview, you should back up all of your data and regularly make backups while using the software.

Of the many enhancements in QuickTime 5, one of the best for Final Cut Pro users is a new DV CODEC. This new CODEC provides enhanced render performance and a number of quality improvements. However, there are several known issues that affect Final Cut Pro when working with the new DV CODEC included with the QuickTime 5 Public Preview.
