iTunes: Full Screen Visuals Don‘t Display on a TV

Symptom

You connect your PowerBook computer to a television to watch iTunes' Full Screen visuals, but the screen remains in Small, Medium, or Large. It won't switch to Full Screen. You may also see a blank, black screen on the TV and the PowerBook display.

Solution

1. If video mirroring is on, turn it off in the Control Strip. iTunes' Full Screen Visuals do not work with TV mirroring.
2. Put the PowerBook in sleep mode by closing the display.
3. Disconnect the TV from the PowerBook.
4. Wake the PowerBook by opening the display.
5. In the Control Strip or Monitors control panel, set the PowerBook screen resolution to 640- by 480-pixels.
6. Put the PowerBook in sleep mode by closing the display.
7. Connect the TV.
8. Wake the PowerBook by opening the display.
9. Play a song in iTunes with Full Screen Visuals.

1. You can display Full Screen Visuals on a PowerBook computer's display without following these steps.
2. If you disconnect your computer from the television, change resolutions, or restart the computer, you will need to follow these steps again to watch iTunes' Full Screen Visuals on your television.
