iTunes 2: About Connecting Your MP3 Player

You can connect your MP3 player to your Mac to use it with with iTunes 2.
You can transfer songs from your library to a portable MP3 player, such as the Apple iPod. iTunes works with several players. For the latest information, visit the iTunes Web site.

Connect your MP3 player to your computer with the FireWire or USB cable that came with the device. After a moment, the player's icon appears in the source list. If you are using the Apple iPod and iTunes is set to update it, all your iTunes songs are transferred to iPod automatically.

If your iPod is not set up to automatically update, you can drag songs from the iTunes library or a playlist to the player's name in the source list.

Some players, such as iPod, have additional options. Use the buttons in the lower-right corner to access additional settings.

When you're transferring songs to your player, be sure that your computer does not go to sleep.
