Final Cut Pro 3: Finder Attempts to Open FCP For Mac OS X When You Open Project Files In Mac OS 9

In Mac OS 9, if you double-click on project files, Final Cut Pro text files, or other files with a Final Cut Pro icon Final Cut Pro 3 for Mac OS X may try to open and an alert box may appear. This issue only occurs if Final Cut Pro 3 for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X are both installed.

Symptom

An alert box with this message appears:

"Final Cut Pro requires certain software that is missing This version of Final Cut Pro requires Mac OS X."

Solution

This should cause the Finder to update the desktop database and prevent this issue from recurring.
