iMovie 2 for Mac OS 9: Aurora Igniter INIT Causes Clips to Move to the Trash

The Aurora Igniter INIT system extension causes imported clips in iMovie to be moved to the Trash .
Symptom

When the Aurora Igniter INIT system extension is installed, clips imported into iMovie 2 for Mac OS 9 are placed directly in iMovie's Trash rather than the shelf.

Solution

Use the Extensions Manager control panel to turn off the Aurora Igniter INIT.

If you need the Aurora Igniter INIT to be enabled for other applications, turn it on using the Extensions Manager control panel, then restart the computer.
