QuickTime 5 for Windows: QuickTime Player Unexpectedly Quits

Symptom

QuickTime Player 5 may unexpectedly quit if you have done the following:

1. installed QuickTime 6 Public Preview
2. added a favorite .mp4 movie
3. upgraded to the final version of QuickTime 6.0
4. uninstalled QuickTime 6
5. installed QuickTime 5

Solution

Delete the QuickTimeFavorites.qtr file. It is located in these locations:

Windows NT: C:\\WINNT\\profiles\\All Users\\Application Data\\QuickTime
Windows 98 and Me: C:\\Windows\\All Users\\Application Data\\QuickTime
Windows 2000 and XP: C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\QuickTime
