Final Cut Pro 3: Get IHA Utility Doesn‘t Recognize Double-Byte Computer Names

The Academic Lab version of Final Cut Pro 3 comes with a utility called Get IHA Carbon, which assists in the creation of the list of authorized computers. When using this utility in Mac OS X, computers with names that contain double-byte characters (such as any Japanese character) do not appear in the list of authorized computers.

Symptom

The computer name does not appear in the Lab Machine List after using the Get IHA Carbon utility.

Solution

Remove double-byte characters from the Computer Name in the Sharing preference pane.

Start the computer from Mac OS 9 and use the Get IHA PPC utility instead.
