Support for multi-user access to a document depends on the application. All
the major Macintosh database programs support multiple-user access to a
shared data file and many other Macintosh programs are AppleShare-aware to
the point that they also support multi-user access to a single document.
Some applications, like Microsoft Word, let a user open a shared document
as "read-only." This means that other users can also open the same document
as read-only.
