WebObjects 4.5: Solaris "Can‘t find Xa.o" error message

Q: When I try to compile my WebObjects 4.5 application on a Solaris 2.6 system, I get the error message:

Link error, can't find Xa.o

My app compiles and links without this issue on other platforms. What's wrong?

A: Some Solaris 2.6 distributions did not include the operating system package

System SUNWarc Archive Libraries

which is required by the WebObjects linker. The archive libraries are included in your Sun distribution and can be added to your system with the "pkgadd" command.
