ImageWriter II: Troubleshooting "Printer is not responding"


I'm using an ImageWriter II with a Macintosh Portable. I keep getting the
message. "Printer is not responding. Check the select switch", but my
select switch is on.


If there is nothing wrong with your ImageWriter II, there are three
possible causes for this problem:

* A defective printer cable.
 
* A defective printer port on the Macintosh Portable.
 
* Incorrectly set software.

The most common of the three causes is incorrectly set software.  Be sure
you have selected the proper ImageWriter driver--not the AppleTalk
ImageWriter--in the Chooser, and confirm that it is in the selected port,
either printer or modem.
