I'm using an ImageWriter II with a Macintosh Portable.  I keep getting the<BR>
message. &quot;Printer is not responding. Check the select switch&quot;, but my<BR>
select switch is on.<BR>

If there is nothing wrong with your ImageWriter II, there are three<BR>
possible causes for this problem:<BR>
<BR>
* A defective printer cable.<BR>
 &nbsp; <BR>
* A defective printer port on the Macintosh Portable.<BR>
 &nbsp; <BR>
* Incorrectly set software.<BR>
<BR>
The most common of the three causes is incorrectly set software. &nbsp;Be sure<BR>
you have selected the proper ImageWriter driver--not the AppleTalk<BR>
ImageWriter--in the Chooser, and confirm that it is in the selected port,<BR>
either printer or modem.<BR>
