AppleScript: Scripts Do Not Recognize Disks with Accent Characters in Name
This document describes an issue where disks or files with accented characters are not recognized.
Symptom
If a disk or file contains an accented character, such as é, ü, ê, or à, or a character from a double-byte language (for example, Japanese) its name string cannot be coerced into an alias.
Products Affected
AppleScript
Solution
Rename the file or disk removing the accented characters.
Leave the name as is and use Choose File or Choose Folder to let the user locate the correct item.
