DVD Studio Pro: DVD-Video Disc Cannot Be a Multiformat (NTSC/PAL) Disc

This document explains why you cannot create a multiformat disc when using DVD Studio Pro.
Warning: Using an incompatible video standard with your television set could damage it. You should note on the label of your completed DVD-Video which video standard was used (NTSC or PAL).

The DVD-Video specification does not allow for the creation of a multiformat DVD. You must create a separate project for each video standard.

It is possible to bring PAL video into an NTSC project and visa versa. However, if you burn a disc as NTSC and the project contains PAL formatted video, the PAL formatted video will not display on an NTSC television.

In addition, when you set a startup action, make sure the startup action is the same format as the project.

Note: The DVD-Video specification was written and is now maintained by the DVD Forum working group WG1, which comprises a number of task groups concerned with both read-only and recordable disc formats.
