I have a Macintosh Classic running System 6.0.7 and an NEC SilentWriter 290<BR>
PostScript laser printer. I would like to use TrueType fonts for better<BR>
screen display of text.<BR>

Can the TrueType fonts be used with the NEC printer, and what would have to<BR>
be loaded onto the Macintosh Classic?<BR>

TrueType is compatible with any output device as it is a self-contained driver<BR>
and font set. Since you are running System 6.0.7, you have to install the<BR>
TrueType INIT, and the specific TrueType fonts you wish to use. System 7<BR>
has the functionality of TrueType built in, so those running System 7 do not<BR>
have to install the INIT, just the specific fonts they wish to use.  <BR>
<BR>
The INIT is available on the StyleWriter and Personal LaserWriter LS<BR>
diskettes, or through authorized Apple resellers. <BR>
