Symptom
The client stops responding when printing to a desktop printer.
Solution
Update to Desktop Printing 2.1, which is a part of LaserWriter 8.6 and the Color StyleWriter 6000 driver package. It is available from
Apple Downloads.
This issue only happens in Panels, so another workaround may be to use Restricted Finder, or to do the following:
1. Disable Desktop Print Monitor.
2. Disable the Desktop Printer Extension.
3. Disable the Desktop Printer Spooler.
4. Print to the selected printer in System Access using Macintosh Manager.
