Several months before the introduction of the Apple LaserWriter IIg and
LaserWriter IIf, Apple started shipping a new toner cartridge for the
LaserWriter II family of printers. This new toner cartridge has an
improved mechanism that provides more consistent feeding of toner to the
paper. This is only noticeable when printing gray scale on the Apple
LaserWriter IIg and LaserWriter IIf. There was also a change in the
cartridge that helps prevent toner leaks.
Any toner cartridges that you find in stores today will be of the new
variety. Externally, there is no way to tell the old cartridge from the
new one.
There is no change to the Materials Safety Data Sheet.
