A/UX: Why Root Has More Space Available than Regular Users

Why do root and regular users have different amounts of space available on
their file systems?

A/UX follows the Berkeley file system. There's a default high-water mark
of 10 percent of disk space that isn't available for use by non-privileged
users, although you can adjust this with the tunefs command. Root,
however, can do anything, including filling the file system to capacity.
